Simsonized

September 5, 2007

C’est Moi after Simsonizing my normal conference photograph and (hopefully) being fairly honest with the answers. It’s probably an improvement over the original. I may even use it as my Skype image, replacing Kokopelli although I am probably too fond of the old fertility deity from one of my all time favorite narrative traditions to do that. I must admit to have felt that the Simpsons had lost it a bit over the last two years, but having seen the new film I think that is probably where the creative energy has been going rather than the TV series. Mind you it doesn’t do to trivialize this, Berkeley has a course on The Simpsons and Philosophy to take but one example, and even Richard Dawkins has to come down from his pedestal to pay attention to Homer.

The Cynefin Company (formerly known as Cognitive Edge) was founded in 2005 by Dave Snowden. We believe in praxis and focus on building methods, tools and capability that apply the wisdom from Complex Adaptive Systems theory and other scientific disciplines in social systems. We are the world leader in developing management approaches (in society, government and industry) that empower organisations to absorb uncertainty, detect weak signals to enable sense-making in complex systems, act on the rich data, create resilience and, ultimately, thrive in a complex world.
