I have been meaning to try out YOTEL for some time, and a transit via Gatwick allowed me to do so. The story is a simple one; the guy who brought us Sushi on a conveyor belt got a first class upgrade and had the idea to go to the designed and create a hotel based on FIrst Class cabins. So for £59 I occupied one last night and it is a excellent example of good design. Despite being small everything stows away (an appropriate metaphor as it is like a cruise ship cabin but without any port!) and it works. I will now leave directly into the terminal without the stress of traffic. Compared with other London hotel prices its cheap – and better than the decayed edwardian guest houses that one normally ends up in. (Oh, and the internet is free and fast as well). A great example of thinking differently and transferring ideas from one domain to another.
