This beautiful photograph is from Nasa’s Galileo spacecraft. It is Io, a moon of Jupiter and the blue emission at the top is a sulfurous eruption from a caldera known as Pillab Petera. It is obviously a early valentine’s day celebration and sign of intelligent life elsewhere in our solar system. OK you have to have a twisted imagination to get this, so if you don’t be grateful and just enjoy the picture.

Thanks to the BBC web site for the picture and the information. The light emitting deep sea squid looks cool (or hot) too.
