Cognitive Edge is focused on rejuvenating management practices to better equip organisations when addressing intractable problems or seizing new opportunities in uncertain and complex situations. Cognitive Edge solutions, comprised of open source methods, original research and the Cognitive Edge SenseMaker® Software Suite, are delivered through the Cognitive Edge Network. The Cognitive Edge Network is a widely dispersed, cohesive Network of experienced professionals in private and public sector organisations from diverse disciplines with deep-rooted experience in both business and science. It includes academics and practitioners, in house and commercial consultants. Membership of the Network is attained through participation in an Accreditation programme.

The Cognitive Edge SenseMaker® Software Suite provides a set of tools designed to enable informed decision making in organisations using both structured and unstructured data in a common environment. The Suite is fully integrated with a coherent body of formal methods is the outcome of several years of research into human based organizational complexity, sensemaking, decision making, knowledge sharing and narrative.

A two-day Cognitive Edge accreditation course with an optional SenseMaker™ training day which is recommended for attendees on prior accreditation courses. Participants will gain an understanding of the principles and practice of naturalising sense-making to organisational issues.

If you want to discover pragmatic ways to manage under conditions of uncertainty, understand the power of business narrative and discover new ways to use human networks then this course will equip you with the core theory & associated methods.

Cognitive Edge is creating an approach to management & social science by applying insights and understanding from the natural sciences, in particular complex adaptive systems theory, the cognitive sciences and a range of techniques from disciplines such as anthropology.

While offering a range of novel, science based methods, the approach includes the principle of bounded applicability. Different tools and techniques work within different contexts, no one approach can claim universal applicability.

Methods taught on the course are fully supported by open source methods.
