Over the last two years Cognitive Edge has been intensively working to rebuild SenseMaker™ from the ground up.
SenseMaker™ v3.0 is a four tier architecture and is object orientated. The database is separate from a business object layer, which is separate from an application layer, which is separate from a presentation layer. The intention is to provide considerable flexibility when building new modules, or interacting with other applications or capabilities. We believe it will provide a foundation for an integration architecture for social computing in an organisational context.
Today we can announce the availability of the first two v3.0 modules – SenseMaker™ Collector and SenseMaker™ Auditor.
Highlighting some of the new enhancements released with SenseMaker™ Collector v3.0:
- Flash and HTML user interfaces served simultaneously to accommodate a broader range of respondent environments
- The ability to offer customised presentation layers in Flash or HTML for specific requirements, priced in addition on a project basis
- Signification (i.e. the indexing or tagging of narrative fragments) onto any geometric shape (U.S. Patent Pending). The current release has implemented triads and polarities; other shapes can be implemented on a project basis but may incur additional cost and time
- User identities to allow an individual who is contributing narrative fragments to create an account for one-time entry of relevant demographic data together with linked generic material as to attitudes or opinions
- Greater graphic image embedding options in Collector websites to enhance the capture experience
Over 20 SenseMaker™ Collector v3.0 sites (about a third of which have also used SenseMaker™ Auditor) have been tested and are in active use on pilot projects with both public and private sector clients in Australia, Singapore, the UK, the Netherlands, the US and Canada.
SenseMaker™ Auditor v3.0 allows the presentation of images or text (a story) that can be signified to provide comparative data on how different groups see the same material. SenseMaker™ Auditor can be chained to SenseMaker™ Collector to create an additional story prompt. More details to come about this new SenseMaker™ module.
SenseMaker™ Explorer v2.1 and v2.5 beta work with exported data files from Collector and Auditor.
Further SenseMaker™ v3.0 modules are in development and are targeted for initial testing and release starting early in 2010. SenseMaker™ Collector v3.0 is offered as a web-service or a site license basis and and is available through the Network of accredited Cognitive Edge practitioners.
