I arrived home this evening to discover the arrival of the new MacBook Pro (17"). Aside from the sheer beauty of it, the wonderful screen (not more flipping between windows) it took less than an hour to set it up. A backup of the old MacBook using TimeMachine, a simple menu driven set up which took 3 minutes. Two episodes of South Park later and all my apps and data are on the new machine.
My son took two days to set up his new Vista based machine. From opening the box, to settling down to email and writing this post was less than ninety minutes.

Congrats on the new purchase. I'm the ugliest of evangelists these days, a new convert. I have the same machine (well, mine is the base model - which seems sufficient as a starter tool); and can't believe I struggled with bad design for so long. Who knew user-centered design matters so much? My bride has barely budged from her iMac 24" wonder as well. Just enjoyed a brief goodnight iChat session, and recalling how many weeks it took to setup a similar session when we were both on Windows.
I could go on. Pity about the boy.
