You have a bad cold, you are 3,000 miles from home and you will not be able to change your flight back. You know that one sneeze will infect most of the cabin you are in. What do you do? The good news by the way is that there are 200 cold viruses and you can't get one twice, so as you get older it happens less.

Board the plane wearing a mask, Japanese-style. Take your seat and blow, loudly. The person next to you will probably look to be relocated. Y à voilà, you have room and have reduced the risk of collateral damage by cross infection.
Oh, and did you really want the airline's food, anyway? Don't forget to pinch a straw from a concession before boarding: one must keep up one's nourishment with liquids.
Seriously, when I used to be in a different city every day for months on end, I had to battle being sick and flying, and wearing a mask so as not to spread germs to those around me was the best solution I could find.

Do you really mean to say that the three colds I've had this year already have all been caused by different viruses?
65 years old time 3 colds a year = 195
WOW, nearly there (except that I can remember a couple of years when it was only two and I don't remember what happened when I was a baby or a toddler).

You know I didn't think of the mask! My substitute was a nasal spay and multiple Lemsips to disguise/suppress the symptoms. As to liquids, well what is wrong with serial G&Ts?

Of course, if one takes even a minimally utilitarian viewpoint, the risk to your fellow passengers must be balanced against the good that you will do at your next stop ;-}
