I had a meeting the other day with Dan Shannon in a Starbucks in Vancouver (no new city mugs this trip by the way). I last met him when I was teaching at Royal Roads and he is a part of our practitioner network. It was a good session, lots of things discussed and some interesting possible projects. I am getting more and more interested in applying complexity to large projects and the design of IT architectures to provide greater flexibility so that subject came up along with a whole bunch of KM issues. What I had not expected was the novel way he would represent the meeting (see below). Just for the record frames 1 & 5 are good illustrations of canadian self-deprication. The tool he uses looks cute as well and one we might use to deploy work on archetypes.

Do we get to licence the guy in frames 4, 5, 6 and 7 (I am thinking of a line in coffee mugs...)

Making cartoons is a serious business: It seems cartoons are the order-of-the-day (and there´s me thinking I´m being innovative on my blog recently!) Not so long ago I wrote an article about the importance of cartoons and story telling to IS architects.

Nigel, I liked your article on needless complexity and the chronic disconnect between IT and the business. You suggest an interesting approach to helping solve the problem which I will have to re-read a couple of times. I liked the way you avoided trade name infringement with your 'translation fish'.
