For those in Hong Kong (or elsewhere) who were intrigued, irritated or whatever my by views on Web 2.0 and its implications, you might want to look at this podcast in which I was interviewed by Jon Husband (himself no mean player in this field). I also raised yesterday some bigger issues on the role of the IT department which I will expand on soon (hopefully over the weekend). Kim's prediction at the conference yesterday that IT departments would disappear is I think on the extreme end of a already provocative remark, but there are some major shifts and changes that need to be made. My slides from the event can be found here.

Hi Dave
Really enjoyed your talk at the HK conference & catching up with you. Well...I wasn't predicting "death to IT" overnight & that remark was off the back of working with IT people recently who keep saying no to this and that. I do think that IT need to rethink their role in a Web 2.0 world. Collaboration tools put the "power" in the users hands, so centralised IT departments are becoming dinosaurs. IT need to reinvent themselves & acknowledge that YouTube, Facebook etc are valid tools for employees, and not act as policeman.
I promise the rant is now over :)-
Kim

I like / appreciate slide #4, Cynefin applied to communities.
There's a theory or an organizing principle in there somewhere, I think.

Hello Friends, I was very inspired by both Dave and Kim. Especially the dimensions on Knowledge Productivity and Trust Networking by blogging and Social Computing. The granularities in the Relational Capital and Synapse dimensions might be the glue for knowing value...and rapid prototyping. So what is the powerful question in this?
