No one wants advice, only corroboration

Due to another interesting MBA group at Warwick University asking interesting questions I only just made Heathrow this evening and my plans for a blog on scenario planning will have to wait for the plane. So just to keep up the daily post I thought I would share a quote from my favorite T shirt (I am wearing it now). It is from John Steinbeck and it forms the title to this blog. I got it in the Steinbeck museum in California which to be honest disappoints. I grew up with Steinbeck, starting with Grapes of Wrath and moving on to the emotional overload in Of Mice and Men. His novels and other writings inspired me to read up on the history of the American left and its labour movements. It has been a delight of recent years to find my daughter discover his work and be similarly moved.

Unfortunately the museum seems to sanitize his politics; to make one of the great American novelists fit into the dream which he challenged so effectively.

Thanks for reminding me. When I read 'Of mice and men', I felt I was entering a world of grown-up literature for the first time. Making the man accessible & popular by de-bollicking him, eh.

"So just to keep up the daily post"

Hmmm. Interesting. What's the compulsion? Rankings?

Seriously interested.

Its a question of habit really David. If I do it daily then it becomes a routine. Forces me to find or think of something interesting (I don't always succeed) and also makes sure I don't fade and lapse.

Rankings, yes I suppose so (I do check where I stand as its a good measure of relevance) but the main motivation is that I know if I don;t have a routine I may just stop
