Interim post on blogs as a KM tool

Calgary has snow and a civilised temperature - I have realised that I am built for cold climates! I am overdue to blog on my Dallas presentation with book references and the like, and also a substantial criticism of Hubert's assertion that Blogs are not a management tool. Time however is short with the third accreditation course in two weeks (which are going well) and it will not be up tomorrow.

One of the good things about the Calgary programme is meeting up with old friends, but also with virtual friends. Jon Husband is a good example of that, I have been linked to his blog for some time and he passed me this clip which sets the scene for my coming criticism of Hubert.

Hi Dave,
I am not sure what do you think on blogs as KM tool, and of course I will wait to read your post. I came across the work of Chester Barnard while researching the issue of 'Executives as storytellers'. I am looking at this issue in which tellers (executives) use storytelling as a communication vehicle. I noticed that this oral storytelling is taking place within the business scene - which is a formal organisation. I also notice, and practiced, that nowadays executives use their personal Blogs as a communication vehicle for storytelling, which are sapread as non or a-formal organisations. Is it possible that blogs are used as a KM tool which enables executives as well as employees to share and collaborate tacit knowledge voluntarily? Is it 'breaks' the myth of "Knowledge is power"?
