It would appear that Chimpanzees are more advanced than we thought, they can use spears to kill. In the same BBC news bulletin we learn that their more intelligent cousins, not content with a myriad of advances on the basic spear are about to create the first military laser. We used to joke that it was a pity we ever came down from the trees. It now seems that we have to regret we ever left the ocean; or maybe lungfish use mangrove roots to throttle their relatives?

...or, perhaps it is just time social engineers and social scientists got more 'real' ?

We really needed to come out of water, climb trees, invent the wheel, jump from aeroplanes, munch hamburger, go to mass, fuck around, suckle babies and write javascript..; because 'We' were growing up, into more balance, aesthetic vision and intellectual poise; so that we could look back and say, that we did not need the spear and we dont now need a military laser either!!
We grew up so much that now we know that lungfishes, chipansees and George Bush would never understand that!! And that is the feeling of having grown up!!
