Having just discovered that "The Fellowship of the Ring" was published for the first time in the year I was born, I wonder if we should abandon the idea of Baby Boomers in favour of the title of this entry?

I'm curious Dave... what are the characteristics of the Frodo generation (apart from the physical ones, that is :) )

Good question Patrick and I'd be interested to see who else contributes to this thread! I'd put up a few things:
1 - Frodo knows the difference between right and wrong - no relativst he ...
2 - He realises that Gandalf was right to spare Gollum as "he has a part to play"
3 - He goes on quests - no one seems to do that any more ...

Dave,
I think that your point that Frodo "goes on quests" may be the most appropriate. None of what the boomer generation has accomplished could have been accomplished, not even dreamed of, if not for a spirit of adventure in exploring the world and making it a better place. (Though, admittedly, not all have actually tried to make it a better place.)
